OUR RELIEF PROGRAMS

How We Responded During COVID-19

Friends of Hue has worked with local agencies and volunteers to assist seniors, low-income families, and those hit hardest by the pandemic. Our programs included:

  • Distributed over $60K in financial aid to San José residents experiencing economic hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Assisted with housing, unemployment, and small business loan applications.
  • Partnered with homeless agencies to provide advice and counsel on tenant and landlord legal rights relating to eviction.
  • Worked with local restaurants and community partners to provide meals to seniors and low-income families.
  • Distributed food and essential survival kits to individuals and families facing food insecurity.
  • Delivered food to seniors and families with limited mobility during lockdown periods.
  • Donated over 40,000 essential PPE items and hand sanitizers to hospitals, health clinics, and nursing homes.
  • Supported frontline healthcare workers responding to COVID-19.
  • Assisted clinics serving vulnerable populations with critical supplies during peak pandemic periods.
  • Conducted public health announcements through Zoom webinars and social media channels.
  • Performed census work and community announcements to ensure families received timely information.
  • Provided Community Emergency Response Training.
  • Offered pro bono legal assistance and crisis support services.

In December 2020, Friends of Hue was honored to receive the Supervisor’s Medal for outstanding community service during the COVID-19 pandemic.
